An Innovative App Designed By Richard Commins That Lets Cash-Strapped Students Get Home
Project Dash Project Dash (Driving All Students to Home) was designed through collaboration between NUI Galway students. Students can use taxis even without money, credit cards, or mobile. A significant number of students from universities, as well as taxi firms, have signed up to make use of the services since the program was implemented during the time that it was in Galway and Carlow.
Richard Commins, a final-year student of business information systems at NUI Galway who led the project's creation, was at UCC today to participate in the launch of the initiative.
The professor explained that Dash was initially conceived as a college assignment to help the student solve his problem.
"After an exhaustive study of the tragic events that occurred over the years, the author revealed that most of them are at night and occur as students walk along the street," he said.
"We have spent significant time developing, testing, testing, and evaluating the system before the official launch.
"This campaign is designed to clog universities and students get taxis regardless of where they are in the world, particularly in difficult conditions."
Students can sign-up to get a free account via www.projectdash.ie. Upload a photo ID of themselves, upload the bank account used to pay for emergency taxis, and create an account with four digits.
Students provide their names and dash pins to the driver, allowing the driver to verify their accounts using the driver app. The driver then uses the image to verify that they paid the correct amount before the app processes the payment upon arrival at the destination. "It was wonderful to receive the assistance and support of all of the people in Cork," Mr. Richard Commins stated.
"We received an overwhelming response from taxi companies and are excited to announce our concept in Ireland. The students in Cork will have the option of using Dash in the coming months, and in the coming months, anyplace across the nation," he said.
Cork Taxi Co-op and ABC Taxis have joined forces.
Cork Taxi's Colin O'Mara said: "We are delighted to be working with Richie together with Project Dash to ensure the students at UCC return home safe and in good safe hands."
Despite not having funds or programming skills, Richard Commins's creative thinking and the software he used to create the app made it simple for him. He was able to create an original application that is downloadable and has already received downloads via an App Store. App Store.
In response to questions about the idea that drove the idea behind this app, Richard stated that he wanted to "try to develop an app that addresses specific issues that are currently being discussed in Ireland without putting people under the burden of overly complicated economics or political issues."
